Hackney Family Garden
The materiality of the garden was kept simple with one unifying texture throughout, reclaimed London stock bricks on vertical and horizontal planes, to match the house exterior and neighbouring properties. Detail was brought in using treated oak to surround the central bed and later long oak benches will be added.
The contemporary feel of the interior and extension was carried through into the garden adjacent to the house with structural grasses to keep a modern look combined with perennials for colour and interest. Multi-stem trees with good autumn colour and spring blossom create atmosphere and add structure. The trees also create areas of dappled shade for lush green foliage planting. As you journey towards the end of the garden the planting becomes more natural in feel until you reach the end of the garden and the pond. The planting changes with the seasons, using seed heads as well as flowers.
